Whoever says pop music, says The Hague. That's why the city has a reputation of being the nr.1 national city of pop music. Parkpop was founded in 1981 by DUCOS Productions and others. Parkpop is now a national music festival with more than 200.000 visitors.
Night at the Park
With Night at the Park on the night before Parkpop DUCOS Productions presents the ultimate weekend with the best pop music from all over the world. This weekend confirms the position of The Hague as a nr.1 popcity in the Netherlands and stimulate tourism enormously. Night at the Park presents all the best of the '80 and '90 with UB40, Madness, Golden Earring, K's Choice, De Dijk, Duran Duran and many more.
Rotterdam Unlimited presents today's urban art and culture. The festival presents artistic expressions arising from the heart of major world cities and metropoles such as Rotterdam. RU shows how cultural influences and interactions are constant sources of innovation and brings it into view with interesting examples of artistic exchange.
Summer Carnival first took place in 1984 as an equivalent of the carnival in the Caribbean. A group of students of Antillean and Aruban origin wanted to celebrate the tradition that they have learned at home. Now, more than thirty years later, the Summer Carnival Street Parade is considered one of the biggest events in the Netherlands with more than 750.000 visitors and has contributed to the image of Rotterdam as a city of cultural diversity.
Dunya Festival was a performing arts festival with world music, storytellers and poets, which took place annually since 1977 in the Park at the Euromast. Every last Sunday of May more than 250,000 visitors took a world trip through different cultures of the world in the Park near the Euromast. Since 2013 is part of Dunya Festival Rotterdam Unlimited.
Summer Carnival presents: Latin Weekender! From 27 to 30 November, Center Parcs De Eemhof is entirely devoted to national and international latin live acts, bootcamps, workshops, international dance demonstrations, spectacular pool parties, delicious food and much more! In the summer of 2008 the Rotterdam district Hoek van Holland had the ambition to position the beach of Hoek van Holland as the cultural hotspot of that year. During the summer DUCOS Productions a exiting program of concerts by artists from all over the world, culinary workshops and much more.
In the context of city marketing the city of Alkmaar wanted a free festival of non western arts. With the Terra Festival DUCOS Productions made the city of Alkmaar sparkle with the greatest artists of Brazil, Africa, Peru and the Caribbean. Terra Festival attracted more than 10,000 visitors annually.
In 2011 the city of Amsterdam presented the Brasil Festival. For more than two months several Amsterdam locations were dedicated to Brazilian art and culture. Commissioned by Akzo Nobel, DUCOS Productions presented the opening program of the festival at the Museum by Queen Maxima.
Many famous blues cities in the US show similarities with the city of Rotterdam, with a river running through the city. Inspired by these cities DUCOS Productions presented Riverside Blues in 2002. A free blues festival at the Willemskade and Veerkade with great blues artists such as Dr. Feel Good, Aimon, Blue Angels, Bluesscatters, Ana Popovic and the Big Town Playboys.
Opening Schouwburgplein Rotterdam
In 1998 DUCOS Productions organized the opening of the now iconic Rotterdam Schouwburgplein.
During the Euro 2000 DUCOS Productions provided information centers, fan embassies and stages with musical program tailored to the playing nations. Even before the games entertainment was presented in De Kuip Stadium to warm up the crowd. As a closing ceremonie DUCOS Productions presented a huge event in the Ahoy venue for all stakeholders and volunteers of Euro 2000.
Commissioned by the city of Rotterdam DUCOS Productions organized Christmas Wonderland. With the traditional lighting of the huge Christmas tree in front of the City Hall and numerous shows, street acts and performances in the city of Rotterdam. Christmas Wonderland took care of the authentic Christmas atmosphere in the streets of Rotterdam.
Steps on Stage
A 10 day theater festival in the Museum of Rotterdam for and by children. The daily program consisted of the main show in the theater tent "The Wind in the Willows" performed by Youth Theatre School South Holland complemented by a village of tents workshops with dance, theater, make-up, set design and music. Besides the main idea there was a daily show performed by the children who had participated in the workshops.
